Olivia Piper

After Rebecca Lindenberg

She is daydreaming again, soft things that will never be put to good use–

sunlight and coffee rings and work that won’t get done.
She wishes she had more answers and less time, was better at making choices,
understood what her choices even were.
She knows she should go on a walk, open her window at least,
eat less even though she hasn’t eaten yet today.
She asks Alexa to play a song,
it’s a good song, but a sad one–a song he used to play in the car,
she asks Alexa to turn it up, volume ten.
She asks Alexa to tell her a joke, she thinks this is rock bottom maybe.
She knows it can probably get worse, she hopes it can get better,

she knows she is better at hoping than anything else.
