Everything  you  couldn’t  understand
made  you  more  like  your  parents,  but
not  the  ones  who  fed  you  &  told  you
to  go  to  bed,  the  other  ones  who
walked   through   the   backyards   on
moonlit nights. You know this because
when  you  shouted  “Mom!  Dad!”  they
looked up at your window & screamed
as   if   you   were   the   young   prince
banished  to  another  dimension  &  no
amount of wandering would ever bring
you  back  or  extinguish  their  desire  to
kill you.
